At Masuwe Lodge you might wake to the sound of a crested francolin, perhaps spy a shy steenbok foraging beneath your deck as you enjoy a morning coffee delivered to your tent … and an hour later you can be riding the rapids beneath Victoria Falls, browsing the markets at Elephant Walk or bravely swinging over the Zambezi River on the terrifying Gorge Swing!

Masuwe Lodge reopened on 01 May 2017.  As you browse this website, keep in mind that the Masuwe team here have accumulated over 100 years of experience in the safari lodge business … you can rest assured we will deliver all that we are promising!

Wilderness Tents
Our nine Wilderness Tents combine thatch and canvas with an attached local stone bathroom (shower, vanity and toilet) and a front deck with comfortable seating and views of the natural bushland where wildlife roams. Supremely comfortable king (or twin) beds are made up with top quality cotton bed linen and canopied with mosquito netting.   From your bed you can look over your toes, through the glass sliding doors, and watch the sunrise tint the sky pink.

The Hide-Away
Just the one Hide-Away is tucked into a private spot overlooking a small water hole and beautiful natural bushland. With double the floor space and a lovely big deck area, the Hide-Away is perfect for romantics and honeymooners.  The Hide-Away has an indoor double shower, with a view, an outdoor bathtub for two and a minibar stocked with your personal choice of local brand drinks. Named after the camouflaged shelter used to observe wildlife – “a hide” – our Hide-Away is perfect for any two-people wanting to hide from the world.

The Family Nest
Privately situated with bush all around, the Family Nest is named after the weaver bird nests found around Masuwe. Our Nest is built of stone and thatch, reminiscent of the old farm homesteads of Zimbabwe. The upstairs master bedroom has a private relaxation area, king sized bed with lovely treetop views and an en suite bathroom. Downstairs there is a second smaller bedroom with own bathroom as well as an indoor living area and a kitchenette with mini-bar stocked to your tastes (local brand drinks included). Outdoors, and surrounded by natural bush, there is shaded deck, a sunny plunge pool and a family sized braai (BBQ) area.

The Heart of Masuwe
Our main lodge overlooks a waterhole and the (often dry) Masuwe River. Perched high on a hill that exudes a positive energy (aaaahh the magic of Africa!) the dining, bar, lounge, pool and relaxation areas are well shaded and open to the breezes, birdlife and wildlife that calls Masuwe home.   The old stone ‘bones’ of the original Masuwe Lodge have been restored and the thatched roof has been replaced, the kitchen and bar have been rebuilt and a welcoming staff, including many of the original team, are gathering to host you.
